You can’t just change the speed, it won’t be stable. You need to enable XMP, which will change the speed, adjust timing, and adjust voltages. It is an overclock, but it’s a “sanctioned overclock” if that makes sense.

CPU is i5 10400f with MSI H510m pro-e, max speed 3200MHz. I know about XMP but wanted more details.

You can adjust the RAM speed, and it could work well. It relies on whether your motherboard can establish consistent auto-timings at the chosen frequency. Usually, lowering it to 2666 should be stable since it's a slower setting and the board handles it easily.
