I recently replaced my entire rig with a custom build. The EXPO overclocking option isn’t working for my memory module, limiting it to 4800MT/s instead of the rated 6000MT/s. Running Prime95 causes errors and the stress test consistently halts shortly after launch. With the default non-overclocked configuration, the test runs smoothly without issues, though it can still crash games or display "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" error screens during testing. The specifications are shown below. Ryzen 5 7500H, RX 6700XT DDR5 32GB, 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance COLORFUL BATTLE-AX B650M-GHA, Wi-Fi.
Hi there, XMP and Expo profiles aren't always fully reliable, especially when RAM kits don't match the motherboard's QVL support list. Have you looked into it? You should check the motherboard's support page for compatibility details. I'm not very familiar with RAM overclocking beyond CPU and GPU adjustments, but if it's similar to those processes, you might achieve stability around 6000MTs by slightly adjusting the DRAM voltage. I'm generally comfortable with this stuff, though I haven't changed RAM settings except for XMP/EXPO/DOCP. Does the RAM cause crashes or failures in general Windows use, or only in Prime95? While Prime95 is useful for testing stability, it's not a typical real-world scenario, so you can usually skip it if it works otherwise. I have an OC setup on my gaming rig that performs well across the board except for Prime95.
I faced the same issue with my 7200 MHz sticks. I had to turn on XMP I since XMP II didn’t work (the distinction wasn’t clear, but I had XMP 1 and 2 options). Then I manually adjusted the voltage levels. Be careful not to exceed or fall below the suggested values. By trial and error, I lowered or raised certain voltages until the system stabilized at 7200 MHz. It took me roughly 14 hours for MemTest86 to report a passing result. (ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-H GAMING WIFI(Bios Version 2801), Intel 14600K, Corsair DDR5 Vengeance RGB 4x16GB 7200). As he noted, I did this because I really wanted it to function. I adjusted by 0.001 volts each time, and if MemTest86 errors decreased, I fine-tuned by 0.0001 volts until no issues showed up. That process was slow. I don’t use that program myself, but whenever I run MemTest86 and it says “pass,” I haven’t experienced any RAM problems. (Unfortunately, my LAN connection stopped working, but at least it keeps me occupied...). I’ve assembled five PCs using Memtest 86 for testing: two built by me (one DDR3, one DDR5), two for friends, and one for my sister. So I don’t have much experience yet.
The memory layout is slightly varied, which may affect compatibility. I recommend reaching out to Colorful's support for assistance with accessing the latest BIOS update.
