overclocking ram
I have an ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) ATX motherboard with PCIe 4.0, Dual M.2, 12+2 with Dr. MOS Power Stage, HDMI, DP, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Aura Sync RGB Lighting, along with 3200mhz RAM listed on the qvl list. When adjusting DOCP settings and enabling profile 1, it indicates 3200 mhz RAM but shows 2666mhz for the dimm slots. Memchk reports 3600mhz. Is my RAM actually running at 3200mhz or 2666mhz? If it's at 2666mhz, how can I raise it to 3200 mhz? Are the dimm slot numbers displaying the default speed while the actual RAM speeds are shown elsewhere?
2666 is likely the default JDEC speed for the memory, while 3200 is the manufacturer's recommended speed when voltage and timing are correct. You'll need tools like CPU-Z or HWinfo64 to check the current setting in Windows... remember to halve your optioned speed because it's DDR RAM.
