Overclocking RAM 2400MHz
Overclocking RAM 2400MHz
Hello everyone,
I'm new to overclocking and have a few doubts. I'm about to install Corsair Vengeance Black 16GB (2x8GB) at 2400MHz. I need advice on whether I should overclock the motherboard or CPU, if I should adjust the clock speed when RAM reaches that frequency, and whether the 1.65V voltage is suitable. Also, does the manufacturer recommend a specific timing for this configuration?
I would never push my RAM that high; I really doubt it will actually boost performance in any noticeable way. The person with 1600mhz RAM will be performing just as well as you without increasing voltages. If you want better results, consider overclocking your CPU or GPU.
the specifications are 1333mhz / 9-9-9-24 / 1.5v, but corsair has confirmed it can run at 2400mhz / 10-12-12-31 / 1.65v after overclocking and enabling xmp or manual settings. ensure your cpu is unlocked (k) and stable for such speeds; high-speed ram at 1.5v is not common and would be very costly.
Yeah, I'm planning to get i5-4690k. I'm not planning to go extreme OC, then maybe I should go 2133MHz or 2000MHz, 1.6V and 10-11-11-32?
But I do need overclock my CPU before overclocking RAM or I can leave it with stock settings?
And one more thing, for 1600MHz I don't need to OC memory?
My MB only recognizes 1333 and 1600 automatically, but higher values require OC. What about the CPU? That's my main worry. Also, I've noticed G.Skill is seen as a reliable RAM manufacturer, though I haven't found them in the Latvian market.

Also, I’ve noticed that G.Skill is regarded as a good RAM manufacturer, but I haven’t found them in the Latvian market at all.
