Overclocking options for i7 8700K and Strix 1080 Ti
I recently bought computer parts for my new PC and plan to overclock it after setting everything up. For cooling, I'm using the Corsair H115i Pro RGB 280mm Radiator. As a beginner in overclocking, I'm curious about a stable 24/7 overclock for my i7-8700K. My goal is to extract maximum performance without risking damage. I only need a safe overclock that remains stable even when running the most demanding applications.
For my GPU, I have the ASUS ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING GeForce 11GB OC Edition VR Ready 5K HD Gaming HDMI DisplayPort DVI Overclocked PC GDDR5X Graphics Card. I selected this card because it's relatively quiet, offers strong cooling, and maintains good performance. My main concern is whether it’s worth manually overclocking it further, especially if I aim for stable 1440p AAA gameplay at ultra settings. I’ll also be testing it with Heaven Benchmark to gauge its stability under my specific cooling configuration. I’m just looking for approximate results.

If your MB flavor backs MCE (running all cores up to the maximum turbo speed of 4.7 GHz when cooling is adequate), that would look like a solid beginning...; it's tough to think framerates would feel 'insufficient' with such a powerful CPU and GPU, especially if you're playing at 1080P on a 144Hz screen, which makes it hard to imagine ever feeling 'just right'.
At least when MCE is active and in balanced power mode, the only adjustments are made when necessary, like during gaming or heavy tasks, without needing to keep the clock locked at a steady 4.8 - 5.0 GHz just to maintain performance or stream content.

Make sure you stay under 80°C during the burn test and below 1.35-1.4V (depending on your zone). That should be okay.
With the 8700K it's quite simple to reach 5GHz.
Enjoy but keep progressing carefully and watch the temperatures.
