So I have an ASRock H97M Pro4 and an i5-4690k, and everyone keeps saying "Oooh don't overclock on H97." Is it really that bad? I’ve had issues with my old motherboard using FX8320 and successfully overclocked AMD without problems. So is it really that risky for Intel? I’m currently at 4.2ghz on that board.

They turned it off. You can always update an older BIOS.

Not dangerous. Unlikely due to BIOS compatibility issues? Yes.
I might have acted quickly. Certain H97 boards seem to support light overclocking with particular BIOS updates. It's not advised since they don't have the necessary power phases, though it could be feasible.

It varies based on the bios version since some were turned off. However, if possible, it works just fine. Even basic mobos with minimal phases can achieve good results. It's not about power limitations as commonly thought.

Alright so next question then. Have they removed overclocking on a bios update for THIS specific motherboard (AsRock H97M Pro 4)? Or is there still a chance to overclock it?
