I increased my C2Q Q8300 to 3.00 GHz and the GT 730 DDR3 128 bits GPU with a clock boost of +180 and memory clock +315 using thundermaster. My CPU temperature stayed at 71°C during Prime95 for an hour, but it hit 90°C when playing games like Watch Dogs. I’m checking if these temperatures are excessive and could affect component health or longevity.

Raising the bus speed may lead to permanent harm for all parts and significantly shorten their lifespan. Disable the overclock since your temperatures aren't suitable for gaming. Think about whether the performance gain from overclocking is worth it compared to non-overclocked performance. Do you notice a big increase in FPS?

I ran the game for 7 minutes without overclocking, achieving 25-30 FPS with a steady 25 FPS and occasional drops to 22 FPS. All settings remained at low levels, resolution was 1024x768, CPU temperature was around 60°C with peaks up to 74°C on some cores, and GPU stayed near 71°C.

Later, I overclocked for 7 minutes, reaching 30-43 FPS consistently, though it dipped to 28 FPS at times. Same settings were used. CPU peaked at 89°C and GPU at 71°C.

I tested the game for 7 minutes without overclocking, achieving 25-30 FPS with a steady 25 FPS, occasionally dropping to 22 FPS. The system ran at low settings, 1024x768 resolution, around 60°C CPU temperature, and 71°C GPU temperature. After trying it on an overclocked rig for 7 minutes, I got 30-43 FPS with a consistent 33 FPS, sometimes lowering to 28 FPS, while maintaining the same configuration. The CPU peaked at 89°C and the GPU at 71°C. If this pattern continues, the optimal choice is to keep it overclocked but cap it at x105 max. Extra performance comes with a cost—use your hardware wisely.
