Hi I run a new system with an EVGA RTX 2080 Ti card and I want to overclock it using MSI Afterburner but I'm scared about overheating and breaking the GPU, so can you tell me what risks there are and how to find a safe limit? If I need more info I'll check often. Thanks in advance

Doesn't change load temps much when running idle but does a lot during normal use. Air inside the box will always be hotter than your room temperature. A) Is this H150i Pro mounted on the front or top? Does it take in air from the front or blow hot air out of the back? Does it just suck, only push, or both? The H150i Pro is designed to keep noise down but isn't strong enough for high performance. If you put this fan facing into your room, I'd recommend flipping it so it blows air out at the top instead. B) Your stock LL120 fans are weak for a GPU, especially if they're sitting on the bottom or center. They probably aren't pulling in enough air to cool things down properly. My suggestion is this: put strong intake fans facing into your room.

There are built-in rules on the GPU to stop it from overheating and breaking down, so it slows down automatically before anything breaks. The best way to know how fast it can go is to crank up the speed until it gets unstable, then turn it back down just enough to stay stable without crashing.

So when I run a stress test like MSI Kombustor, as long as the computer doesn't crash, am I safe from damage? My graphics card's power limit can go up to 130 percent, but once I push that hard, the temperature shoots up to about 87 or 88 degrees. Even if I keep increasing the core clock and memory clock without it crashing, is that okay? Sorry if this sounds silly.

The Turing cards get hot at 83-84 degrees Celsius when running normal settings and stop working if they hit 88-90 degrees Celsius. That means you are already using too much power for how much the card can handle. If you try to speed it up by overclocking, heat goes up even more because that adds extra stress on the chip. It sounds like there isn't any room left in your current setup to push it further without causing damage. The best safe temperature is 80 degrees Celsius; those numbers at 83-84 are already very close to the limit. You need to turn down the power settings or fix how air moves through your case before you try anything else.

My computer has these parts: CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3950x GPU EVGA RTX 2080Ti RAM G Skill 16GB sticks Storage Samsung SSD 970 Evo Hard Drive Case Corsair Obsidian 500D SE Cooling system uses the H150i Pro radiator with three fans. I'm wondering if my GPU isn't getting enough cool air from this arrangement and what steps can I take to fix it if that's the case. Since this was my first time putting together everything, I know there might be small mistakes I made.
