What are the boundaries for this graphics card? I've used MSI Afterburner and done overclocking. For some models, I've pushed it to 200+ for memory and core clock, but my PC shuts down. What are your recommendations, as long as you're okay with overclocking?

What are the boundaries for this graphics card? I've used MSI Afterburner and overclocked it to 200+ for memory and core clock, but my PC shuts down. What should I do? As each processor is unique, their capabilities vary. My past GPU overclocking led to instability first, so I start with the GPU core frequency and then move to memory. Game performance also matters greatly. Each title behaves differently, so some may work flawlessly while others show glitches or color shifts. What are the boundaries for this graphics card? I’ve used MSI Afterburner and have pushed it to over 200 for memory and core clock, but my PC shuts down. What advice do you have, as long as you’re open to overclocking? Each processor—whether CPU or GPU—is unique; no two are identical in performance. My past experience with memory overclocking often leads to instability first, so I’d begin by adjusting the GPU core frequency before moving to memory. Games also significantly impact results. Every title behaves differently, and some may look flawless while others display glitches or color shifts. I typically run Unigine Heaven Benchmark for my overclock tests, though sometimes it works perfectly and then games like GTA V start showing artifacts (such as purple/green flashes or random purple elements). The Witcher 3 is a good test for overclocking—it tends to crash or freeze, often within minutes or even hours, so it’s wise to try it when you have time.

Also, your MSI GTX 1050 Ti should work with the MSI Gaming App; it should auto-adjust overclock based on temperature and game demands. You’ll see the boost in games like Fallout, GTA V, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and others, especially those with heavy graphics. If you’re unsure about MSI Afterburner or RiveraTuner Statistics, NZXT’s cam software offers a straightforward display after installation—no setup needed.

I’ve tested MSI GTX 1070, 1080, and 1080 Ti models, and they all perform well beyond their advertised boost rates when temperatures are optimal (thanks to MSI’s cooling system). I expect the 1050 Ti to behave similarly.

In summary, stick with your current setup, monitor temperatures closely, and consider using the recommended tools for fine-tuning.
