I'm searching for a suitable motherboard to support a solid overclock on the i3-8350k. I'm considering the MSI Z370-A Pro, but I want to confirm if it's adequate. My budget is around £150, and I'd prefer to stay local in the UK. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't wish to start a new theme since the situation remains unchanged. Instead, I'd like to add some details here... With a budget of up to 150 euros for the motherboard, I'm okay with a reduction of around 150 euros. Therefore, I would pick the MSI - Z370 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard. I plan to overclock it to 4.5Ghz or higher. For cooling, I need something around 30 euros, perhaps a Cooler Master model like the Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (around 30 euros). In the future, if my budget allows, I might consider a water cooling system to reach 5Ghz, but for now, 4.5Ghz seems sufficient.

What are your thoughts on this setup?

Ps, I hope I'm clear.

I'm using a H110i 280mm Water Cooler and achieving around 5Ghz with temperatures between 50-60 degrees Celsius. A Hyper 212 should suffice for 4.5 GHz, though adding a second fan might help for extra cooling. The box likely has a second fan bracket for the Hyper 212, making installation straightforward with plenty of guides available. Also, you don't have to go full water cooling to reach 5GHz; a large air cooler like the Dark Rock Pro 3 or similar would work just fine. I chose a water cooler because it matched my preference for appearance.

I’m using a H110i 280mm water cooler and it’s running at 5Ghz with temperatures around 50-60 degrees Celsius. A Hyper 212 should work fine for 4.5 GHz, but you might want an extra fan for better cooling. There’s likely a second fan bracket in the box for the Hyper 212, so adding another fan should be straightforward with plenty of guides online. Also, you don’t have to go full water cooling to reach 5GHz—big air coolers like the Dark Rock Pro 3 or similar would suffice. I chose a water cooler because I liked its look. What kind of motherboard are you using?

In the end I chose an MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon because it received good ratings for overclocking, had a sleek black design, and RGB lighting. Also, discussions mentioned that some motherboards support more phases than others, which can aid stable overclocking.
