I just assembled a new pc with 6800k, strix x99 gaming, corsair dominator p 3200 mhz ram, samsung 950 and evga gtx 1080 ftw. The rams are only running at 2144mhz and I experienced a crash where my screen went to bios and said overclock failed. I wonder if the rams are the issue?

Okay i will try that thanks!
No problem, make sure to select the "solution" that works best once you're done for the next guy.
Edit:
Solution that worked for overclocking ram -
Here's a short video on how to overclock your ram if you want to reach those 3200 mhz. Often, these RAM don't automatically reach their "max speed" without telling them to do so, as they default to a lower speed (2144mhz in your case).
*VIDEO*
Changing the DRAM frequency is the easiest way to do this, but you should watch the whole video if its your first time,

They could increase the RAM speed to 3200mhz in the BIOS settings. However, it's likely people can adjust RAM speed to the minimum without issues. My thought is that your CPU overclocking might have failed, and the RAM isn't the issue.

You might be able to increase the RAM speed to 3200mhz via your overclocking BIOS settings. However, it seems most users can configure RAM speed to the minimum without issues. It appears your CPU overclocking might have failed, and the RAM isn't the issue.

I haven't changed the CPU's settings beyond its default configuration, and I'm unsure about overclocking. However, if I configure the RAM to operate at 3200MHz, would that require overclocking the CPU? I've heard it might be necessary.

I have not overclocked the CPU at all its in stock settings, and I don't know how to do so. But if i setup the rams to run at 3200mhz should i overclock the CPU? I have read that should be nessecary for it to work out

Ensure the most recent BIOS is installed and activate XMP settings. If not available, consider applying a minor CPU overclock to assist the memory controller in handling higher frequencies at 3200.
