Overclocking Intel CPU
Overclocking Intel CPU
Hello!
I have an E8400 and I’m planning to increase its clock speed from 3.00ghz to 3.6ghz. I have a few questions:
1. Is it safe to do this? If yes, what’s the best method to avoid damage?
2. Will there be any noticeable difference between 3Ghz and 3.6Ghz?
3. Can I overclock without using additional coolers, just with the one that fits the CPU?
Please let me know!
My details:
Motherboard: G31T-M7
Processor: Intel core 2 Duo E8400
GPU: GT 610
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 250GB
I’m running Windows 10 Pro.
Thanks for your help!
A 600mhz overclock is a decent improvement
1- Your graphics card and processor don't allow overclocking in my view, and even if you manage it, it might only affect BCLK, so not worth the effort
2- It's still a solid upgrade, but in your situation it could become too unstable before reaching 3.2
3- I wouldn't suggest it, using a high-quality air cooler with a large heatsink would be sufficient
