AssassinToilet :
Will increasing overclocking shorten my GPU's lifespan?
If you disable the fans and let it run hot...yes, it will. As long as temperatures remain within an acceptable range, it should be okay. A tailored fan curve could also assist in keeping the GPU cooler.

with i7 6700 you cannot only overclock the cpus, only those with a k at the end can be overclocked, sorry for the bad news on the cpu.
overclocking increases heat, and the more you increase the gpu's oc, the higher the temperatures become.
i always take risks when overclocking.
if you wish to experiment, downloading msi afterburner is a straightforward process, self-explanatory.
i have dual gygabite gtx 970 g1 oc editions; both are stable at +144 cores and +500 memory at 68c.
use these settings as your starting point—stop the overclock if temperatures exceed 70c.

Sure, just keep the same settings. Also, will it function with a 970 model? I think I only have the basic GeForce GTX 970.
