Hello, I'm interested in discussing CPU overclocking. I own an i7 8700k with a solid cooler and plan to adjust the core frequency to all cores at 4.8GHz. Can I modify all cores to that speed without altering the voltage or power limits? Additionally, I aim to raise my cache frequency from 4.4GHz to 4.5GHz. Is it feasible to overclock both the CPU and cache without changing voltage or power settings? Also, how can I ensure the CPU remains capable of downclocking during light usage or idle states while keeping adaptive frequency enabled?

Windows 10 64-Bit Settings:
Power Options are set to Balanced with Min CPU Usage at 10% and Max at 100%, Adaptive Cooling is enabled.

Components:
1) i7 8700k
2) NZXT H440
3) Power Supply 750W
4) Asrock Taichi Z370 Motherboard

Adjusting the Vcore when you overclock mainly depends on your CPU model. Some require more while others need less to maintain stability at a specific speed. Personally, increasing the cache Vcore wouldn't be advisable. The performance improvement would be minimal.

If you're only going for 4.6GHz then don't even bother, the i7 8700k turboes further than that on stock settings.

Runs above 4.6 when using stock configurations. Can reach 4.7 with sufficient cooling capacity.

Hey, just checked my question... I messed up the frequencies again. Thanks.

Seabass101:
I'm looking for advice from the community about overclocking CPUs. I have an i7 8700k with a solid cooler and plan to raise all core frequencies to 4.8GHz. Can I adjust every core to that speed without modifying voltage or power limits? Also, I want to increase my cache frequency from 4.4GHz to 4.5GHz. Is it feasible to overclock both the CPU and cache without changing voltage or power settings?

Additionally, how can I ensure the CPU remains down-clocked during light usage or idle so adaptive cooling stays active?

Windows 10 64-Bit Settings:
Power Options are set to Balanced with Min CPU Usage at 10% and Max at 100%, using Adaptive Cooling (enabled).

Components:
1) i7 8700k
2) NZXT H440
