overclocking i7 6700k faliure
just installed my new configuration and everything is working fine so far. since i received the k version along with a water cooler, i thought it was time to push it further. i adjusted the bios settings, changing the multiplier from 40 to 45 which should be safe. after clicking ok, the pc powered off briefly, then came back on for five seconds before shutting down again. once it restarted, it worked properly, but i still don’t see any post messages. i decided to turn it off completely because i’m unsure what to do and then turned it back on. the issue varied occasionally, but i managed to get the bios open again and booted using the windows boot drive. however, if i restart the system, the same post problem appears. i’m frustrated because under heavy load, the head temperature reaches 45 degrees celsius, which makes me really uncomfortable about using this setup. here are my specifications:
i7 6700k
gtx 1080 founders edition
16 gigs of ram
z170-p asus motherboard
thanks and sorry for my terrible typing skills – it’s 3 in the morning and after two hours of frustration i gave up on finding good guides.

I’m not sure what’s causing this, but since my CPU reaches 45°C under heavy load, it really bothers me that I can’t use this headspace. Here are my specs:

😀
Yeah... I increased the voltage and didn't notice any improvement, actually making it more unstable. I can't overclock the CPU because even the smallest change from the factory setting disrupts the whole system. It's a shame, but I'll try the GPU next—it's running around 60 at full load, which isn't too bad.
