Overclocking I7 4790k
Overclocking I7 4790k
I tried to push my CPU further. After using it normally for some time, I upgraded the cooling and power supply, aiming for a higher voltage. I planned to reach around 4.7 volts on this chip, starting at 1.264 volts since the original specs suggest about 4.4. I tested Realbench for roughly 18 minutes without any problems, and my temperatures stayed around 70°C, which is acceptable. Would anyone recommend another stress test? I don’t have an Aida 64 right now. Can I achieve this speed with stock voltages? I’m surprised I didn’t see a blue screen, even though I’ve overclocked many AMD chips successfully. My PSU is a Seasonic Platinum 750 silent snow model. What do you think about my approach?
I confirm staying below 1.3V. The 18-minute run in RealBench without BSOD indicates it’s already quite close, requiring only an additional 0.1-0.3V if stability is questioned, which remains a reasonable adjustment.
I would perform RealBench for 2 hours to confirm. I prefer 1 hour for the benchmark and 1 hour for the stress test. A score of 4.7 at 1.264 would indicate a very strong chip, likely in the top 10% or even better.
I would run RealBench for 2 hours to be sure. I prefer 1 hour for the benchmark and 1 hour for the stress test. A score of 4.7 at 1.264 would be an excellent chip, definitely in the top 10%, possibly even better. What direction should I take if I experience a BSOD? I’d suggest dialing it back to 4.6 or increasing the voltage slightly. I’ve read that keeping it under 1.3 volts for everyday use is what I’m aiming for.
