overclocking i5-6600 using a standard fan cooler
I'm looking to boost my i5-6600's performance. My expectations were modest increases, but I see only up to 4.8 MHz (compared to the stock 3.3 MHz). Others claim they use powerful watercoolers. With just a basic fan cooler for 34€, I know I can't reach such high speeds. Still, my aim wasn't to hit 4 GHz, but that wouldn't have been my priority. Is it safe to try this with my current setup?
It turns out it doesn't really matter. My BIOS version is actually from November 2016:

It stops downgrades to older versions where non-K CPUs might still be supported. Now the mainboard makers were told to avoid messing with the BCLK and similar settings, and I was too careless to update my BIOS before looking into it.
What we learn? Purchase K if you're planning to overclock or just want to ignore it...
