Overclocking i5 4570 without extra tuning
Hello, I have an i5-4570 non-K CPU and I'm wondering if I can overclock it. I understand the non-K CPUs are locked, but can I somehow bypass that? The situation is straightforward: the games I play keep my CPU at 100% usage (like R6 Siege, COD:MW, Battlefield V), which creates a bottleneck. With only 60-70% utilization and a 1060 with 6GB RAM, a small boost of around 10% might help. What do you think?
I suggest considering a modest upgrade. It seems you prefer saving money rather than replacing everything at once. Upgrading to an i7-4790K or even an i7-4790 would be a good option. You can maintain your current components while swapping the CPUs. I found listings for that CPU priced at $115.
To really boost the performance of that nonK CPU, you could try the sketchy method using the set fsb program. However, I strongly advise against it unless you're committed to overclocking this CPU. Instead, consider buying a K version from sites like eBay or Amazon. If you're serious about overclocking, setfsb is worth a look—there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to guide you.
I prefer not to invest since I plan to develop a new system in August.
