When purchasing a new CPU, you'll also need to acquire a new motherboard and RAM, essentially a complete system. The decision of what to do with the old one is yours—sell it, discard it, or store it in a case.
😉
In reality, you might manage to earn some cash from it on the used market.
So, should I replace my CPU and what should I do with the old one? I wouldn't just purchase a new CPU. Instead, I'd consider giving my system a full overhaul. That would be a costly project involving a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM. I’d hold off until Coffee Lake arrives to see how it affects current CPUs and boards. Sell the old CPU, RAM, and motherboard as a basic setup.
First, replace your CPU cooler since the stock one isn't sufficient. Second, you won't be able to overclock on a H61 motherboard; consider using a P67 or Z68 chipset and then overclock it.
