Overclocking GTX 1080 Ti
Overclocking GTX 1080 Ti
Gigabyte Aorus Gtx 1080ti extreme edition is the latest model I own. It runs on an i7 7700k processor with an OC clock of up to 4.8ghz, 16gb ddr4 memory, and a 600w power supply. I’ve been attempting to overclock it, but reached around 1780mhz. Going higher causes the system to crash during games, and pushing it to 1900mhz leads to shutdowns. I’m wondering if this is due to the GPU itself or if the 600w PSU is limiting performance, and whether upgrading to a 750w PSU would help.
What model is your PSU? If it's a low-quality one, it might be the cause of the issue. The GPU draws around 280w at stock speed, and 7700k draws about 130w at stock speed plus power for other parts. It seems you likely need a higher power-rated PSU. Does it function properly at these speeds?
