Overclocking gone wrong?
Overclocking gone wrong?
I just attempted to overclock in MSI Afterburner and ran benchmarks in Heaven 4.0.
During the process, my PC restarted unexpectedly at the middle of the test. I logged into Inni and reopened MSI Afterburner... Then my GTX 970 disappeared, but an Intel graphics card appeared after checking other programs too—no detection. Did I damage my graphics card or is this just an error?
Details
Evga GTX 970
Intel Core i5 4460
8GB DDR3 RAM
Help needed!!!
Regards, Magnus
unless you became confused by the voltages, the hardware should be okay... there was no odor of blue smoke? then simply reset the bios (this should activate the igpu so you can at least observe your actions in windows)
then if a picture appears, *remember to connect the motherboard to the monitor)* delete the msi oc config profile.
reboot and check the bios to confirm the gpu is present. if it is, re-connect the gfx cable and verify the gpu shows up for windows.
Consider restarting your PC and resetting the settings in MSI Afterburner. Also, check if reconnecting the monitor-gpu cables helps. I tried restarting but nothing happened; the graphics card isn't being detected. I'll attempt to reconnect the cables again.

unless you became too excited about the voltages, the hardware should be okay... no blue smoke smell at all?
just restart the bios (this should turn on the igpu so you can at least monitor your actions in windows)

I increased the voltage to 7+ on standard in Afterburner
7+ as in 100% power profile plus 7%? that's 107%, then it will work fine up to 110% without issues.
so in that scenario... it seems you went a bit overboard with the core and ram clocks. You did them too much and the GPU refused to boot because of it.
Once you removed the OC profile, it would revert back to its defaults since it's just software-based OC.
