I've been attempting to push my 8320E on an M5A97 with a Hyper 212 EVO and Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste for a while. However, it fails the Blend test on Prime 95 even after just 15 minutes. My temperatures averaged around 74°C in the socket and 64°C in the core, and the system would freeze or crash after only about 15 minutes at 3.9 GHz. Many users claim they achieve at least 4GHz on this chip. It seems there might be an issue beyond just the silicon — I don’t think I could have missed out entirely. I’m using standard voltages and also tried 1.3V without success. LLC is enabled, Spread Spectrum is off, which are typical overclock settings for my board. Hope you can help find a solution. Thanks!

Not really. Every CPU is unique, some overclocked while others aren't.

The board isn't designed for OC.

The board definitely isn't designed for OC. It seems we should have been able to upgrade it a bit more. Probably didn't live up to my expectations for such a budget item.
