Overclocking fails on this model.

I’m heading here because I couldn’t locate the solution online. I’ve been attempting to push my 8700k to 4.8GHz, but Prime95 shows it dropping to around 3.8GHz or lower, then settling near 4.1-4.2GHz. I’m using manual voltage control at 1.31V and need advice on adjusting it further.

It reached its maximum of 75°C before throttling the clocks. On the same configuration with a 8600K, I saw it exceed 90°C without any throttling. It's odd how this model behaves.

Checked under high power settings. Monitoring each core for usage changes. Tracking temperatures closely.

Open HWiNFO to diagnose the issue. The 8700K relies on turbo boost for peak performance. Verify that both long and short turbo power caps are maximized. If temperatures are normal, throttling usually stems from these restrictions or the IccMax current cap. HWiNFO will provide detailed insights.
