Overclocking CPU and RAM problems
Overclocking CPU and RAM problems
I recently assembled my PC and everything worked perfectly with Windows installed. Now it's time to overclock, but I'm having trouble. Each time I attempt it, the system reverts to default because it thinks it's unsafe. As a beginner, I'm unsure if I'm doing it incorrectly, but it's really confusing. I updated the BIOS and that didn't help either. My motherboard seems fine since I can save other settings, but not the overclocked ones. Someone could assist me.
Please post your full spec, including PSU and GPU (if applicable).
If you're being notified that something is unsafe, then it's probably too much voltage, or you've got an outright fail on the OC (setting the multiplier too high etc).
What, specifically did you change?
Please share your complete specifications, including PSU and GPU details if relevant.
If you're receiving warnings about unsafe conditions, it's likely due to excessive voltage or an incorrect OC setting.
What exact adjustments did you make?
I'm still learning overclocking and the YouTube tutorials for MSI Click BIOS overclocks aren't very helpful. I only changed XMP and Game Boost settings, but they didn't improve performance.
Did you increase the voltage as well? If yes, what voltage recommendations do you have for a CPU running at 4-4.7ghz and RAM at 3000mhz?
Your PSU is a Corsair TMX 550 watt. Your GPU is an upcoming EVGA GTX 1070 Ti.
