You're curious about boosting your Core i-5 6400's performance. It's possible to increase its clock speed, but you'll need to ensure it stays within safe temperature limits. Some motherboards or BIOS versions support overclocking, though finding the right settings for your specific model (Lenovo 90FL005YGE) can be tricky. Check with your motherboard manufacturer or a reliable tech forum for guidance. Good luck!

Intel only supports the K series for overclocking. The 6000 line had a problem where the base clock of locked processors could be adjusted on Z170 boards, but this was resolved in later BIOS updates. Since your motherboard appears to be an OEM model, it seems you likely won’t be able to overclock it.

The processor won't be able to be overclocked. The most viable options are a budget 6700/7700 chip or a fresh Zen 3 build in about two months.

Not necessarily. I don't believe it comes with a Z170 chipset at all.

It's odd that CPU-Z shows a higher clock speed than the actual base clock. Someone might have a misunderstanding or there could be a software glitch.

the processor increases slightly to handle a task quietly in the background.

Unfortunately, you can't optimize it. For better performance, use 6700/7700. Base clock: 2.7GHz Boost Clock: 3.3GHz. Even a slight background process may cause the CPU to switch to its boost frequency.
