hello,
i’m dealing with an i7-860 on an Asus Maximus III formula. it’s reaching around 95°C during stock speeds while gaming with an Intel stock cooler. i’m looking into better cooling options for overclocking to 4.1GHz and wondering if swapping the GTX 480 for a GTX 970 would cause any bottleneck when pushing the GPU to 4GHz. thanks for your advice!

Can't provide a recommendation without understanding what you're looking for.
I'm not familiar with the thermaltake contac, but based on its price I think it's slightly better than the cooler you're replacing. The images suggest it's quite compact. It doesn't seem ideal for overclocking.
The Hyper 212 tends to be reasonably priced and is often suggested as a mid-range air cooler; however, its 165mm height makes it unsuitable for many builds.
A more compact option is the Cryorig H7, though it's currently out of stock again.
In the $50 range, the BeQuiet bk009 is sometimes used. They focus on quiet operation rather than speed.

A GTX1070 recommendation is suggested for availability on June 10th. Regarding the cooler, the LGA115x remains the standard for Intel users, offering a variety of options. The choice mainly depends on your existing case, as height restrictions may affect taller models. Water cooling capabilities would also be limited by the radiator and fan mounting positions.

Eximo suggests a GTX1070 with availability around June 10th. Regarding the cooler, LGA115x is the standard Intel choice, offering many options; the main factor is case compatibility, as height restrictions may apply and water cooling could be limited by radiator/fan mounts.

Yes, but no sense spending money on a 970 (unless the price drops, but that is doubtful). I don't imagine you plan on keeping the 860 forever. When you do upgrade you'll have a nice contemporary GPU to go with it.

Consider getting the Coolermaster Hyper 212 for 50$ or the Thermaltake Contac 16 for 18.5$.

The Hyper 212 tends to be reasonably priced. The Hyper Evo 212 is often suggested as a mid-range option, though its 165mm height might not fit all setups.

Eximo:
Can't give a recommendation without understanding what you're planning to install. I'm not familiar with the thermaltake contac, but based on its price I think it's only slightly better than the cooler you're replacing. The images suggest it's quite small and probably not ideal for overclocking.
The Hyper 212 tends to be reasonably priced. The Hyper Evo 212 is often suggested as a mid-range option, though its 165mm height might make it unsuitable for some builds.
A shorter choice could be the Cryorig H7, but it seems out of stock again.
In the $50 range, BeQuiet bk009 is sometimes used—it focuses more on quiet operation than speed.

The main issue is that prices are a bit higher in Lebanon and not all brands are available.
I'll check if the 212 Evo fits in your case.
