I'm still trying to understand this and reached out to the experts. I installed an I5-6600K with an Asus Z170-AR board together. The I5-6600K runs at 3.5Ghz and can turbo up to 3.9Ghz. I've used the onboard EZ overclock tool and now it's showing 4.2Ghz, with a 22% increase reported on the start screen. My question is, when I overclocked, did 4.2Ghz represent the idle speed or the actual turbo boost speed? I'm wondering if a 22% rise means the turbo should reach 4.6Ghz, but I'm not sure if that's what's happening.

After disabling turbo, it runs constantly at 4.2ghz. To reach 4.6ghz you need to overclock further. Keep an eye on the clockrate in the monitor and always start from the BIOS.
