Overclocking an i7 7700K
I am currently trying to push my Intel i7 processor faster because I have a new NZXT Kraken X63 cooler and some liquid metal. Even though the liquid metal didn't get too hot, I just used it as regular thermal paste instead of a fancy compound. I've already pushed the clock speed up to 4.8GHz and lowered the voltage to 1.190v. I ran stress tests for about three hours and feel pretty confident that everything is working well so far.
I am going to let these stress tests run a bit longer just to be sure it stays stable, but I wanted to ask other people who know more than me because I've heard some say the temps are way too high while others say they're totally fine. Also, the voltage seems to be at its lowest possible level; I had set it to 1.185v and the test ran for nine hours without any problems. But when I turned off the PC and started using it with Firefox, it suddenly went blue screen and froze.
Should or could I try going up to 4.9GHz? I don't think I can hit 5GHz at all. https://imgur.com/FU8Mc7l View: https://i.imgur.com/FU8Mc7l.png https://imgur.com/zl0WSyp View: https://i.imgur.com/zl0WSyp.png
If you keep stressing your computer by doing too much that hurts its health more than AIDA64 does, then be okay. I don't want to keep your CPU at those hot temperatures all the time, but when you just play games or use it normally, the temp probably won't go over 75 degrees.
If you aren't constantly stressing your system with something worse than AIDA64, then everything looks good. I don't want to keep running the CPU at its hottest levels all day, but normal use and playing games usually won't even reach temperatures over 75 degrees.
