I noticed some performance issues in the games I play and realized it was due to a CPU problem. I decided to try overclocking my FX-4300 to hopefully improve things. Since I'm new to this, I'm nervous about making mistakes that could damage my CPU. I attempted to use AMD overdrive but remain cautious about risking my chip. I'm having trouble finding clear online tutorials, so anyone who can help explain or point me to a good guide would be really appreciated.

Essentially; the thermal performance is poor, along with the general chip efficiency. Plan to save for a Ryzen 5 upgrade or a G4560 B250 with 8GB RAM.

Chugalug_ mainly avoids it; thermals are poor and chip performance is lacking. Plan to save for a Ryzen upgrade or a G4560 B250 with 8GB RAM. Right now I’m saving for a Ryzen (likely 1600x) but until then I’ll stick to my fx4300. Online users have reached speeds up to 4.6ghz with a Hyper 212 EVO, can I match that?
