Overclocking an 8350 on a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3P board
Overclocking an 8350 on a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3P board
I've been working on achieving a consistent overclock for 4.4 or 4.5 GHz, but I've never managed to exceed 1.5 volts. Could anyone share any experiences with stable results? Or is there a possibility I made an error, especially since this is my first attempt?
If you have any particular inquiries, please feel free to ask. It would also help to know your specific PSU, RAM details (speed and timings), and your overclocking approach (such as multiplier, FSBO, or both). Additionally, let me know about your CPU cooling setup. To successfully overclock an FX 8 core processor, you’ll need an aftermarket cooler since the stock cooling isn’t sufficient.
Another useful resource is a post from an overclocking expert that shares a solid "cookie cutter" overclock for the FX 8370E at 5Ghz. While your settings will vary, it’s a helpful read for understanding overclocking on FX processors.

You can achieve an overclock up to 4.2 Ghz (boost clock) without any Vcore adjustment. A 4.4Ghz boost shouldn’t require a significant voltage increase, typically around 1.5V or higher. Most often, 1.5V or above is needed for 5Ghz overclocking. I’ll share a few excellent overclocking guides that work well with Asus boards; they’re similar in principle. I recommend going through the guide and watching the video, applying what you learn, and let me know if you need further help.
