What are the risks of overclocking? I'm just starting out. Does using an AMD overdrive improve performance? Could it make things faster? My system is an HP Compaq dx7400 MT with 4GB RAM, 800MHz, a dual-core 2.66E675 processor.

Yes, but I genuinely believe it could be more difficult than beneficial. I only experienced a modest boost of around 3fps once. For more details, check this discussion:
