Hello, I need assistance with overclocking my AMD FX-6300 to approximately 4.1 GHz. I have a 500-watt power supply and a standard cooler. Could you suggest the optimal voltage settings? Thank you.

The board features a 4+1 VRM configuration, which isn't ideal for overclocking. However, with a suitable cooler and additional case fans, you might achieve some overclocking potential. What is the brand and model of your power supply unit?

I wouldn't go overclocking it. It already reaches 4.1GHz, so unless you have a dedicated cooler, I don't think it's necessary.

I intend to purchase a Hyper Evo 212 to pair with my 970, which means I won't need to upgrade the motherboard.

What model of motherboard are you using? Also, please refrain from overclocking the CPU with the standard cooler. The Hyper 212 EVO is a solid entry-level option, while the Cryorig H7 offers superior performance. Each processor has its own overclocking requirements, so it's wise to study how it functions rather than applying someone else's settings that might not suit you.

I own a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P.

The board features a 4+1 VRM configuration, which isn't ideal for overclocking. However, with a suitable cooler and components like the one listed at the provided link, you might achieve some overclocking potential. What is your PSU's brand and model?

EVGA 500W Bronze seems adequate but still not optimal for overclocking. In my opinion, it's best to avoid this path and consider more stable options. AMD FX processors with 6 or 8 cores require an 8+2 VRM board and a high-quality PSU to ensure stability during overclocking.

Ok the board has a 4+1 VRM setup, it's not suggested for overclocking. But if you have a solid cooler and these components:

Plus extra case fans, you might achieve a small overclock.
Now about your PSU, what brand and model do you have?
EVGA 500W Bronze.
A decent basic PSU, but still not ideal for overclocking.
Personally, I wouldn't go that route. AMD FX 6 and 8 core processors require an 8+2 VRM motherboard and a high-quality PSU for stable overclocking.
I wasn't really thinking about overclocking myself. But I'm considering getting a 970 and some say the bottleneck will be significant, while others don't agree. What are your thoughts?
