Overclocking AMD FX 4300
Overclocking AMD FX 4300
What! I've never seen an AMD CPU fail an OC that quickly. Didn't you reset everything to default in BIOS first? Before, you mentioned adjusting what I thought was the base clock. Try again after resetting BIOS to its standard settings. On that board they refer to it as "Load Optimized Defaults". I've used that same board with an FX-6350 and reached 4.7 GHz simply by raising the multiplier and slightly adjusting the core voltage. But you shouldn't need to raise the vcore yet, especially with such a small change in the CPU clock ratio. What power supply are you using?
I'll load the optimized setting and I have an ATX 350 watt power supply unit. I meant what was the model or brand? It might not be able to handle the extra strain of overclocking. But it would need to be a solid piece to support that kind of change. And are you using a dedicated graphics card? If yes, which one?
The PSU model is SL-836BTX and the graphics card is PSY GTX 750 2GB.
Edit: I retried and it reached 4/10 before showing the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
If this is your PSU:

...I wouldn't upgrade to a more expensive card than the GTX 750 for a graphics card. That's not a good setup.
But let's address your OC concerns...
You seem to be facing an issue preventing you from making changes. It could be related to the low-cost PSU, or something else entirely. I've helped many AMD processors transition from Phenoms to Piledrivers, even on budget boards. You haven't encountered this problem before.
Could there be a hardware or software problem affecting your ability to OC?
Let's start by checking the software first.
1) Turn off or uninstall as many programs as possible when you open Windows. Check your tray for unnecessary items.
2) Use CCleaner and perform both the Clean and Registry cleanup. If it detects a lot of issues, run it again.

If this is your PSU, you can check the page here: http://www.amazon.com/Allied-SL-8360BTX-...B00N37AHN2. I wouldn't recommend upgrading to a GTX 750 for a graphics card, as it's not a strong choice. But let's focus on your OC problem...
You seem to be facing an issue where your system doesn't allow you to perform the Overclocking. It could be due to a low-quality PSU or another factor. I've helped many AMD processors transition from Phenoms to Piledrivers, even with budget boards. No similar problems have arisen in my experience.
Let's start by looking at the software side. First, disable or uninstall any programs that run automatically when you boot Windows. Check your tray for unnecessary items. Then use CCleaner to clean both the registry and the system. If it finds a lot of issues, try running it again. You can find more help here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner.
It looks like the PSU might be problematic. I disabled my startup items, ran CCleaner, and removed several files. I plan to raise it to 19.5 and run another test. I expect it to work this time, though I suspect something might still be wrong by then.
Let's examine the basic hardware components. Restore the BIOS to its default optimized settings. Next, perform memtest on each memory stick separately, running it a few times. Avoid testing all sticks simultaneously.

Choose the option to create a bootable USB or flash drive, depending on your preference.

Choose either creating a bootable USB or flash drive, depending on what suits you better.
I'll begin the process and share the findings as soon as possible. Please keep the system online.
