I increased the speed using Catalyst Control Center, but unexpectedly it slowed down during gameplay. Do you know which software to try next, or should I reconsider overclocking altogether?

The temperatures were good, and I made sure everything was set up properly.

What were the temperatures? What changes did you make? I increased the clock speed to 4.2ghz. The temperatures were about 63 to 68.

I increased the clock speed to 4.2ghz. My temperatures stayed between 63 and 68.
I tried overclocking the RAM—it helped. Currently I use DDR3 at 1866MHz, and it also worked.
Also, I set the UMA Frame Buffer size to 2G and forced Integrated Graphics.
