Cpu: amd a10 7870k
Ram : kingston fury 8gb(single)
Mobo: emx-a70fm2+
I found a forum discussion suggesting this chip can be safely overclocked to 4.5ghz, but when I attempted it, the system reported bsod.is overclocking the apu's gpu, which significantly impacted performance. Is it really worth trying?

How far you can go with the stock cooler depends on the specific model and conditions, but generally it allows for extended travel or longer storage times.

Using that motherboard, the voltage regulators seem to be in good condition. You might want to look at this guide to try overclocking your 7870k; I found it on AMD's FB page:
