Hello, I'm setting up my first PC and recently purchased a G. Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 memory. I'm wondering if this amount is sufficient for my setup. I've been told that the timings are slow for overclocking, with CL 16-18-18-38, and I'm running an i9 9900K RTX 2080 Ti. I'm concerned this might be a mistake and that I've ended up with slower RAM than intended.

it's decent, don't worry about it. you can spend $100 more on faster ram and it will make 1% difference.

It matters where you need to go quickly.

It's irrelevant in many situations. For gaming, performance isn't the main concern because Intel CPUs handle latency well. It becomes important only when you're working with files or reading data from storage.

Faster RAM speed improves performance, which is why many people compare it even though it doesn’t really affect gameplay.

they often measured ram performance against ryzen, though the latter has noticeable latency. Make sure you reach the claimed rate for your components or aim for 2933, the highest supported by your memory controller.

Could there be a chance this RAM might fail completely and turn into a B-DIE since there’s no information available?

It won’t transform into Samsung’s demise—it just appears from the box. Laughing at the jokes, though, it might be a sign of trouble. The real clue lies in testing the chip directly.

From what I know, the trident z is often linked to Samsung, which explains the higher cost. You don’t have to be concerned about that.
