I own a 3-year-old laptop. When I first got it, my only plans were gaming, but now I’m also into video editing. This device isn’t quite up to the task. I’ve chosen to overclock it because the temperatures are manageable. I’m currently seeing around 75°C during PUBG playthroughs, which is quite reasonable given its age.

Here are the details:
- Intel Core i5-4210u
- 6GB RAM (DDR3)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M
- Temperature at throttling point: 90°C
- Performance notes: CSGO runs smoothly at 100fps on 1200x900 at the lowest setting; PUBG is unstable at 40fps, so I limited it to 30fps for better frame rates.

I’m wondering if you think I should proceed with overclocking. Since I’ll be upgrading my PC soon, I don’t expect to keep this one long.

Review of Notebooks, and TechPowerUp both feature lively threads for overclocking. One approach involves using an unlocked mobile CPU and Throttlestop software.

William P shares his thoughts on notebook reviews and TechPowerUp's active threads about overclocking. He mentions using an unlocked mobile CPU and Throttlestop software as methods. However, he notes that the laptop has a weaker CPU and GPU, making it unsuitable for overclocking. Even with some boosts, performance will likely remain low, so it’s not recommended to overclock.
