I updated my system with the newest BIOS, installed the latest motherboard drivers and performed a Windows update. With 3600 RAM, I adjusted DOCP in the BIOS and set the infinity fabric clock to 1800. I didn’t overclock the CPU. All updates were applied, so I ran Cinebench R23 and Ryzen Master to test performance. Everything functioned normally at default settings, reaching up to around 82°C on Cinebench. When I increased the clock speed in Ryzen Master to 4400 and adjusted voltage to 1.3, the temperatures spiked during rendering, then briefly dropped before rising again each time. Eventually, I had to halt the test midway when temperatures hit 103°C. The 5950X is designed to throttle above 90°C, isn’t it? From what I saw online, many users report consistently high temperatures in the 80s. I know this CPU tends to be hotter, but why aren’t the thermal limits disabled? Or am I misunderstanding how cooling works? I’ve checked several forums and noticed others frequently mention overheating in the 80s. I’m aware it’s built for performance, but it seems the heat management isn’t as robust as I expected.

Have you attempted to turn on PBO alone without making any other changes? That’s what I did, and the temperature only reached the high 80s. I didn’t tweak the infinity fabric or voltages, and the cores stayed at 4.6GHz.

Under default conditions - high temperature warning at 70°C (CPU fans running at full duty) Reduce temperature at 90°C. Thermal cutoff activates shutdown at 115°C (system powers down). Adjusting OC to manually set multipliers will turn off throttle. Disabling thermal monitoring in BIOS also disables throttle. Add more fans if needed.

It seems the thermal throttle was already set. I wasn't expecting it to go away during overclocking. I think I'll wait and try PBO instead, then move forward. Thanks!
