Overclocking 5820k, what should I do next?
I began with 4.0 @ 1.1v (stable).
Then upgraded to 4.3 @ 1.225v (stable).
Now I’m at 4.4 @ 1.225v (stable).
These 4.4 / 1.225v settings correspond to idle: 35c, max load: 70c.
This is my first overclock and I haven’t seen any blue screens—just gradually increasing voltage as per what I thought was typical. (I’m not sure this is the best approach, but I’m just starting out.)
At this stage, I plan to keep raising by 100mhz until I hit a blue screen or stress test failure.
After that, what should I do? Should I go up to 1.25 or 1.27?
Note: I’m not really focused on changing other parameters besides core voltage and lack experience enough.
Thanks.
Generally, you raise the VCore a few steps when:
The system fails to boot.
The system crashes during startup.
The system experiences random crashes in the OS.
The system fails under stress testing.
Your overclocking limit usually involves:
Reaching the highest voltage you're comfortable using. (Perhaps above 1.35v?)
Maintaining adequate cooling while under load.
You may need to adjust secondary voltages such as VCCSA/VCCIO or "vInput".
There are additional voltage settings you can tweak to stabilize the overclock. I'm not familiar with that platform...

There are other adjustable voltages that can help stabilize the overclock. I'm not very familiar with this platform (knowing older X58/LGA1366 systems better than newer ones), so someone more experienced might offer clearer guidance.
