I need assistance with my first PC project. I’ve observed many builds but never encountered overclocking my setup. I’m aiming to boost my CPU to around 4 GHz and checking if other components can handle it. I also have an extra $100 to invest if you’d like me to upgrade. Would you recommend the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-core cooler from Cooler Master?
I’d reduce the cooler and mobo… switch to a 3600 clock speed… move the HDD aside for now… release the surplus funds into a 5700 XT.
Do you already have these components? If yes, then keep your funds for later use. Regarding overclocking, check out some tutorial videos. Overclocking is quite different from assembling a PC, so it doesn’t appear in the same content. You might want to look for motherboard-focused guides instead of CPU-specific ones. This way you’ll understand more about their functions.
