Yeah if you want to boost it, start with the current speeds. A 2600k stock won’t limit a 970. You probably don’t understand your system, but the GTX 970 will be a real upgrade from the 950. Check out tutorials online if you plan to overclock. There are guides for the Z77A-G43 at 2600k. You’ll find videos on YouTube too. Use stability testing tools like Furmark or Intel Burn Test, and temperature monitors such as Realtemp.

The GTX 970 is a 1080p card. If you play at lower resolutions, the CPU will handle better, so consider overclocking to avoid bottlenecks. It won’t be a massive issue, but some games might see high CPU usage, which can cause stutters. Aim for CPU usage around 60-70% and GPU in the 90s.

To monitor usage, try using MSI Afterburner. If you’re unsure about using it, there are YouTube guides available.

How much RAM do you have? At least 8GB is typical now. 16GB or two 8GB units at 1600MHz with a 1.5v setup is ideal but not mandatory. You might run into high HDD pagefile usage in certain games with 8GB RAM and a 4GB GPU, like GTA V.

Also, look for CPU thermal paste application guides to ensure optimal cooling before you overclock.
