I increased my cpu's clock speed to 5ghz without adjusting the voltage, but it stopped working properly. Now I’m seeing only 20 to 60 frames in Fortnite, compared to 260 before.

Ristocaissie1 :
Also, I can’t play games anymore due to the glitchy performance—it’s really laggy, like only 15 FPS. That’s frustrating. Also, let’s run a CPU benchmark using Cinnebench R15 and compare your score with others having the same processor. This should help confirm if your CPU is functioning properly or not.

I upgraded my CPU with an aftermarket cooler and installed a custom RAM module. I also swapped out the original PSU for a more efficient one.

What’s PSU?
I just watched a tutorial to overclock the i7 7700k and followed all the steps, but it ended up messing things up.

as christopherjames said, just select "Default settings" in your BIOS and it take you back to original settings
here's a link to a pretty decent "OC by the number" guide, follow it religiously and you won't have any issues

I have already restored everything to the default setting, but the issue persists.

I've already reset to default and it's still not working properly. That's strange. Have you tried using a CMOS battery or jumper reset? It's a more thorough reset than just changing BIOS settings. Check your motherboard manual for steps, or search YouTube for tutorials.

I haven't given it a shot, but I've definitely explored all the alternatives.

I recommend trying it out as well. Additionally, consider using MSI Afterburner and monitoring your FPS, CPU, GPU usage, and temperatures during gameplay. This will help you track the performance in real time.
