So I've begun building my friends PC and his GA-Z170X Gaming 7 Motherboard is displaying a number 55 for an error code. The manual states this is a Ram Initialization Error. He has 3000Mhz Corsair Vengeance Ram which we have now found to be Overclocked. My question is, does this Ram only work on a rig that is overclocked and is it the reason we are getting the error? If not what would be a reason that we are getting this error otherwise?
Thanks

We own an intel i7 7600k but it seems the main concern is whether I should buy new ram if I can't overclock my cpu. Since you have an i7 7600 "K" processor, you can overclock and adjust ram speed in bios to test. To prevent problems, it's advisable to choose ram kits from the MB QVL that have been verified and update the bios accordingly. New bios updates are necessary to accommodate new ram releases. If these don't work, bring them back to the store for a replacement.

Your motherboard supports up to 64GB of DDR4 3866MHz RAM, but this depends on the CPUs. IMC limits compatibility to models with a maximum clock speed above 2133MHz. Often, you can adjust Primary Timings and Voltage in BIOS using your DIMM SPD details if XMP profiles aren't suitable. Higher frequency RAM typically performs better when paired with an increased CPU frequency. Please specify the CPU if needed.
