I've used his motherboard and my Fx 6300 at 4.6 1.42v for two years with a H55 corsair cooler. There were no problems at that voltage. Anything above 1.45 is a problem, and the VRMs tend to heat up significantly—often reaching 70°C or more. Overall, this board has been excellent and reliable for overclocking and gaming.

I do not by any means see someone doing a 4.5ghz oc on a fx8350 at 1.35v on a msi 970. No way . Also, sorry to be another bearer of bad news but through experience that board sucks for oc, the vrms and nb are basically on fire during stressing. Theres also no load line calibration which sucks . Look into gigabyte or asus boards for oc.
I've reset my overclock but before that had to happen I was on 4.5 on my 8350 at 1.35v mate. The clock was stable for a 4 hour or so stress test and I was happy. Problem with it was that , as you said, the NB was too fucking hot for me to just let it burn on my MSI 970G. It was on 60 C idle. Could hit up to 85+ but always below 90. Fuck that. Get Asus or Gigabyte.

Yeah i had to zip tie the stock cpu fan over the vrm. After the temp went down 20c on tpin1. From 86c load to 66c load. Whenever i played a game i felt my poor system dying i couldn't do it and had to dial it back down lol
