Overclock 6600k 4.3Ghz
Overclock 6600k 4.3Ghz
mcnumpty23 :
every chip is unique
but my 6600k runs at 1.324v for 4.7ghz as a rough estimate
i understand, but i haven’t seen a skylake k series chip that stays under 4.5gHz
they don’t seem to change much compared to earlier models
mostly in line with what came before
agree that 4.3ghz is straightforward
4.5ghz should be manageable, and pushing past 4.7ghz might require tweaks beyond just the vcore
maybe more details would help clarify
what advice would you give me? i can tell my cpu isn’t top-tier
i’d recommend sharing your full specs since other factors matter too
psu: 600w evga
cpu: intel i5 6600k
ram: kingston 16gb
cooler: cm evo 212
motherboard: z170 gigabyte wifi mini itx board
_MrLilNik_ :
the motherboard is a z170 gigabyte wifi mini itx board. Mini itx boards usually lack the power delivery needed for heavy overclocking because of their size and heat issues. I wouldn't try to push that board too much if you're considering it.

Mini itx boards don't typically have power delivery designed for serious overclocking, due to space and heat constraints of the Mini-itx form factor. I wouldn't push that board too hard if I were you.
okay i lowered the vcore to 1.275 at 4.3ghz will that be fine?
Only three-phase power delivery was available, but Tweaktown improved it to 4.9Ghz. 4.6Ghz remains stable with XMP support.
Also inquired about the specific RAM type, particularly if it supports XMP.
