I own an Alienware 15r2 with an Intel i7-6700hq, I understand it's not as powerful as a desktop 6700k. If I boost it to 3.5 GHz, how much will its performance improve? Will there be any overheating concerns? Should I consider getting a cooler solution? Is it wise to overclock the CPU?

You can't push it beyond its limits, and even then, it would face major temperature problems.
