10 days ago I installed Windows 11 on my laptop and everything functioned properly until two days ago. Then it started to slow down significantly, with the CPU usage at 15% and a frequency of 0.39GHz. I ran a Windows System Check but found no issues. I checked the power settings and the CPU max was set to 100%. I verified there was an update available, but the download progress was zero. Everything loads very slowly. The Task Manager takes around 30 seconds to open after launching any program, and the same happens with other apps. No one has any suggestions on how to fix this problem, as I can't revert to Windows 10 because it would have been too late. Sorry, my laptop is set to Slovenian.
Click the Start/Window button and verify it in Device Manager; there might be missing or improperly loading drivers. Alternatively, search for Windows 11 drivers tailored to your specific hardware. It’s possible some haven’t been updated to version 11, which can be similar to the older versions, though it’s uncertain. Another option is to perform a clean installation of Windows 11 so you start fresh without any remnants from previous versions.
Verify your power plan by typing "Edit power plan" in the Windows Start menu. Select "Change advanced power settings" and review the "Maximum processor state" options.
Another issue might be overheating. Review your sensor readings using HWINFO. Core Thermal Throttling should equal zero when the system is idle (not under continuous heavy load). However, I believe it should also remain reasonably high when "Thermal Throttling" is active.
