Output halted on Linux server LTSC
I've encountered a problem where my GPU isn't showing the login screen when the system starts. It functioned properly yesterday, but now it doesn't respond even though I can SSH, run programs, and everything seems operational. This issue started with an NVIDIA GPU, which resolved after a reinstall. Now it's happening with a Radeon card too. The system still detects the GPU (via Neofetch), but it doesn't power on consistently—only the PCIE port supplies power. I haven't managed to access the BIOS, and even when I power off completely, it powers back up instantly when the PSU is enabled. My specs are an i5-3470 with 16GB DDR3 RAM and a 340x PCIe slot. I'm still learning Linux, and any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Neofetch development has ended and the repository is now archived since April 2024. Many old versions remain, including fastfetch. The problem isn't related to the operating system. Consider @igormp's suggestion first; if that doesn't work, try another cable, and if it still fails, test with a different monitor.
I've tested it again. The same issue occurred; the PSU powers up, the system boots without pressing the power button, but the BIOS remains inaccessible, and the screen doesn't show anything.
Ensure the motherboard doesn't power up immediately by simply switching the PSU power on. Verify that the front IO connectors—such as the power button, HDD LED, and reset button—are properly connected with the right polarity.
Based on your description, I would proceed by fully removing the video card, then connecting the HDMI or VGA to the motherboard’s built-in port, and finally powering it back on. Please let me know if this restores the video signal for you.
