Hey everyone,
I just began playing Outer Worlds and kept experiencing a crash every time I loaded it. I was adjusting my GPU settings, turned off the overclocking, and everything worked perfectly... I'm curious if anyone has a solution? I want to play at full settings on my 4K TV, and my 2080 Ti with OC seems fine without it, but it struggles just enough to be annoying.

The OC was unstable previously, possibly leading to crashes. It might help to check if your drivers are current. If not recently updated, consider running DDU and reinstalling everything fresh.

All my modifications I’m using now on my 2080 Ti are just to prevent freezing during games. For instance, I only use a plus 100 setting on my FTW3 Ultra so Control doesn’t freeze. The overclock I previously had was plus 117 because Fallout 4 freezes at higher settings. I gradually reduce the overclock until it no longer causes issues. For Outer Worlds, the Control overclock performed well and, since I’m playing on a 3840 X 1600 ultra wide screen, my frames stay in the high 90s. The only solution is to shift the frames to another location. The simplest fix is to increase the overclock again for VRAM. I usually go plus 800, though I could push it further. At 4K resolution I disable anti-aliasing to maintain frame rates. What doesn’t work is running 5.1 on the CPU unless the game is very old and single-core. I never faced this problem with my 1080 Ti or 980 Ti; back then the CPU was the main cause of freezing.

Thanks to you both, it's a bit odd... I adjusted this OC and gave it a bit of a test, and it performed well. Recently, I've been using it in other games for about a month, and everything is working perfectly. Probably the harsh conditions in outer worlds are causing some instability, but now it's functioning properly after I slightly lowered my core.

The outer worlds act oddly when using OCs. My small OC is stable everywhere, but in TOW it occasionally crashes (mainly on load screens, a few times during TTD, and once during dialogue).

many crashes are due to overlays and background programs attempting to distract from the game.
