consider this crazy concept. use a wired Xbox 360 controller. it must be connected directly, no wireless option. if that fails, double-check your Xbox gamepad drivers—though they’re the standard version from Windows XP onward.

It’s usually about finding the right fit rather than needing a third-party solution. Console makers choose controller designs to match their expertise and creativity, ensuring top performance.

For a wireless controller you should purchase a wireless dongle, I found a $3 one on eBay.

Do you own a wireless XBox 360 controller? You'll also need a wireless adapter even with the included power and charging set.

It's frustrating you need that large USB wireless adapter to work with the controller, even when it's connected via a wired setup. Your plug-and-charge device can't store power anymore (it was purchased in 2006), so you're forced to use the wireless adapter on one port and the charging kit on another. It feels silly having to rely on a wireless dongle for something that should be wired.

Additionally, Microsoft exclusively offers that dongle with the wireless controller for Windows at this time, meaning you’ll need to purchase it from eBay or a similar source (or a counterfeit version).

Purchasing an authentic wired controller eliminates the need for a dongle. Opting for a wireless model requires a dongle if you attempt to connect it via charging cable to your PC. For example, you can easily find a 20$ Xbox wired controller on sites like Gamestop, which offers a wide selection.
